Frequently Asked Questions

Why Might I Need Emergency Medical Transportation?

Emergency Air Transportation is for far more than vehicle accidents and other trauma-related injuries. Many transports are for common illnesses and injuries. In many cases, patients are transported for illnesses or injuries that require the attention of a specific medical professional that isn’t available where you are located. These inter-facility transports are much more common than the emergency trauma transports that people tend to think of. Regardless of the type of transport that you need, you will be covered with a membership from Apollo.

Why Do I Need an Air and Ground Ambulance Insurance Policy?

Emergency Air Transportation can as much as $25,000 per flight and Emergency Ground Transportation can cost as much as $2,000 per trip. Even the best private health insurance only covers 90% of these costs and many insurers cover much less, which could leave you with large, unexpected bills. With protection from Apollo, you ensure that emergency medical transportation is paid without contribution from you.

Is the Program Guaranteed?

Apollo’s products are offered in conjunction with Unified Life Insurance Company. Thus, the membership is guaranteed and reinsured. Any appropriate air or ground service is covered for medically necessary transports.

Typically, insurance companies only cover a portion of the cost for medical transportation. The majority of private medical insurance companies only pay a percentage of the total bill, which could leave the patient with thousands of dollars in medical transportation bills on top of other bills accrued during the hospital visit. Apollo ensures that emergency medical transportation is paid without contribution from you.  Your status is active 3 days after you sign up.

I Don’t Have Medical Insurance. Will Apollo Cover Me?

Absolutely. The same coverage and guarantees apply regardless of insurance status.  Your membership becomes active 3 days after you sign up.

I Have Medicare. Why Do I Need Coverage From Apollo?

Even with Medicare, you may have a substantial co-pay from Medicare and from any secondary insurance that you may have. You may also have trouble getting the transportation costs approved. With protection from Apollo, you ensure that emergency medical transportation is paid without contribution from you.

I Have Medicaid. Why Do I Need Coverage From Apollo?

Typically, Medicaid beneficiaries do not have Emergency Air Transportation coverage as part of their benefits. Eligibility may change and, even if it is covered, you may have trouble getting the costs approved. With protection from Apollo, you ensure that emergency medical transportation is paid without contribution from you.

Does Apollo Cover 911 Transportation?

Yes. All 911 transportation is covered with the Apollo Emergency Medical Services Plan. You and your family will have no out of pocket cost.
